Excerpt:

Taryn had never been so aroused in her whole life before. She didn't consider herself to be a cold person, but sex had never been the earth-shaking experience she'd read about in books. In fact, half the time the only way she even came, was after Ben was asleep and she jerked herself off.

Of course she knew some women never came from a cock, but still, she often felt cheated. If he'd just done more to please her, instead of concentrating on getting his own rocks off... Oh well he was gone now and she'd worry about what his parents and friends would say to her about that later. And it would cause a storm of comments and recriminations, she knew that.

I'm so glad I asked Maeve to fist me. I know it's the right thing to do, and the foreplay has almost had me climaxing already. I don't care if the fisting hurts, I want to do it. I want the intensity, the unbearable passion, and I know Maeve will be the perfect teacher.

Taryn slid up on the bed with Maeve, wishing Maeve would touch her again. God, Maeve did that so well: very softly and gently, but with just enough pressure to arouse her. And playing with her feet! Who knew feet were an erogenous zone? In fact, every inch of skin Maeve touched instantly became an erogenous zone. And now they were getting to the fisting. I can't wait!

Maeve took a jar of scented lube out of the nightstand. When Maeve opened the lid, Taryn breathed in the scent: vanilla, the same as the little tea candles. Taryn watched excitedly, only just aware that the quiet background music was adding to her arousal. Oh yeah. Using all the senses. I must remember that.

Soon. Soon Maeve would put her entire hand inside Taryn, and she would finally know what fisting was all about.

Chapter One

“Tell me your deepest, darkest fantasies.”

The words were breathed in a dark, husky tone against Maddy’s ear. Warm breath caressed her neck, raising the fine hairs at her nape and sending chills coursing down her spine.

She didn’t have to turn around, knowing instantly to whom that sexy baritone voice belonged. How she would love to provide explicit, graphic details of her most intimate fantasies for him. Or better yet, maybe they could act them out.

“Come on. Tell me, babe. What is it? Being bound to the bed, or maybe oiled up on a Slip N’ Slide? Do you dream of sweet love making, or hard fucking? One lover or several?”

Icy shivers prickled along her skin. Just the sound of his voice, his erotic words, had her nipples puckered and pressing against the bodice of her little black dress. She’d worn it in hopes of catching his eye. Not that he would ever notice Maddy as a woman. His buddy, sure. A woman, never. He loved to tease her and she knew his words were all in jest. Weren’t they?

“How much have you had to drink tonight, Jake?” she questioned, then gasped as he licked a hot, wet path along the ultra-sensitive skin behind her ear.

“Stop it,” Maddy squealed in protest. Of course, stopping him was the last thing she wanted to do. But giving in meant risking both heart and soul. She couldn’t stand the thought of being rejected by this man, the only one who really mattered.

Jake Cruise had been her best friend and neighbor since college. They had shared everything. Well, almost everything. She couldn’t share her true desires with him, could she? As if he’d ever want to have sex with her. He was such a tease.

Maddy gave herself a mental shake. What was she thinking? Of course she couldn’t tell Jake how much she wanted him. It would ruin their friendship. He’d think she was a freak if she shared her dark fantasies.

“Come on, Maddy. Tell me.” A pleading tone filled his voice.

“I don’t have dark fantasies, Jake. You know I’m a good girl.”

Yeah, right! Liar, liar, pants on fire!

If Jake didn’t stop whispering in her ear, Maddy’s panties just might catch on fire. Heat surged through her blood, pooling in her swollen labia. Her panties were soaked with her creamy juices. At least she was in the right place to have the fire put out if she spontaneously combusted. Half the guys from the firehouse were scattered throughout the rowdy pub.

The train of her naughty thoughts was out of control. If she were the devout good girl her parents wanted her to be, Maddy would be spending a lot of time in the confessional, saying tons of Hail Marys. It certainly was a good thing her thoughts remained private. If anyone in her family knew the things that ran through her mind she’d be labeled a bad girl. Wicked. She was not a bad girl. She just had some debauched thoughts once in a while.

I am a good girl!

Well, most of the time. She’d been raised to be a good little Catholic girl. It was just her base carnal cravings that made her feel like a bad girl. Maddy had done everything she could to keep them suppressed. Good, intelligent girls just didn’t think about the things that haunted her mind late at night, many of them involving Jake and a few of their closest friends dominating her sexually.

Truth be told, Maddy had been in lust with Jake since the first time she had laid eyes on him across their quiet street. Standing in his driveway, he’d been wearing only a pair of red swim trunks while washing his pride and joy, a shiny blue convertible Corvette. Jesus, the man made her sweat. He’d looked like a shiny, bronzed god standing there, caressed by golden rays of sunlight.

If only I was his idea of a goddess.

But she was so not his type. Jake went for the blonde Barbie dolls with large breasts, impossibly thin waists, long legs, and low IQs. Maddy was far, far removed from that image. Her hair was shoulder length, fiery red and extremely curly. Her breasts, while pert and firm, barely filled out a C cup. She wore a curvy size fourteen, considered her legs to be only average, and held a Ph.D. Although she knew men thought her pretty, she could never measure up to one of the beauties that usually captured Jake’s attention.

“Come on, Red. You can tell your ol’ friend Jake.”

I want you, Jake. I fantasize about you all night, every damn night. Hard, fast, and dangerously wild fucking. I want you to take control, and lavish me with more pleasure than I can handle.

RYLAND

For more than three years I’ve been tortured by mile-long legs I want wrapped tight around my hips, hourglass curves I ache to run my fingers over, a lush rack with deep cleavage my dick needs to fuck. And those lips, Christ. Strawberry red and full, framing a wide mouth that stars in my spank bank.

Then there’s her hair. Black and glossy as a raven’s wing, it falls in thick, long waves to the upper swell of her mouthwatering, heart-shaped ass. I want to feel the silken mass sliding over my body while she rides me. See it spread out on my pillow. Tangle my fingers in the gorgeous strands and pull while I fuck her from behind.

And her expressive eyes. I could easily lose myself—drown in the sparkling blue pools. But I can’t. Hallie’s strictly off limits. The deceptively quiet girl I befriended on our first day of freshman year. The one I’ve coaxed and prodded into relaxing and enjoying life. The sweet, serious, cautious girl who astounded me with her depth and intelligence once I gained her trust. And the craziest thing is…she has no idea she’s smokin’ hot, which makes her even more incredible.

My dad and her mom met during the first family weekend event and an instant connection formed. Our parents became close friends. The four of us have gone on vacations together and they even hang out when we’re not around.

Early on her mom took me aside, asked me to watch out for Hallie, keep her naïve daughter from getting hurt by manipulative guys. I readily accepted the job, swore to protect my friend. Since then I’ve kept her close, chasing off any guy who would have asked her out. Those douches won’t get their hands on her. Hallie’s mine. My precious introvert who’s clueless to the fact she holds my heart and soul in her slender hands.

But no more. Last night changed everything. Under the influence of tequila, Hallie shared erotic fantasies that got me so hot and hard I came in my pants without ever being touched. That hasn’t happened since puberty. But watching her palm her tits while telling me what she wants, fuck. It felt like she’d seen into my head and discovered all my sexual desires.

You see, it turns out my little Princess is a dark side lurker who wants to be watched while having rough, no holds barred sex. She breathlessly admitted it all in vivid explicit detail. Right before she passed out.

But that’s okay. It’s all good. I want Hallie sober and clearheaded, knowing who possess her, gives her everything she needs, when I take her for the first time. Then I’m never letting her go.

So yeah, the restraints are gone. There’s nothing holding me back. Tonight I make her mine. And knowing my girl like I do, I didn’t give her time to stress over the party. I made the invite a last minute challenge, a way to prove she’s able to be spontaneous and conquer what she fears most—walking into a social event alone.

But I’m waiting. Watching. Ghosting the halls of the antebellum mansion, a silent dark wraith. Not interacting or even noticing the other partygoers. Not until an electrical charge surges in the air, tingling over my skin. And I don’t have to be told.

Hallie’s here. My wait is over.

Friends To Lovers, My Story

One of my favorite themes to write about is friends to lovers. I’ve had several stories that have explored that theme, including “Love Potion #69” in Naughty Hearts, and “Stay the Night” in Naughty Flings. One of the reasons this trope resonates so deeply with me, is that I lived it.

I’ve been married almost fifteen years, and I’m still stunned at how the relationship progressed.

When I met my husband, I wasn’t looking for love, or even serious like. The “one who got away” was still fresh in my mind, and I had little interest in opening my heart to any guy. Then, I met a man in a chatroom who lived most of the world away. He was married and divorcing, and I wasn’t interested in anything more serious than a friend.

But there was something very compelling about this man, and we had an immediate rapport that changed the trajectory of both our lives.

Over two years, we became inseparable. I was working nights at the time, which coincided with his time zones, and we’d talk for hours after I was done with work and he was home for the evening. A program called Netmeeting, a precursor to Skype, allowed us to hear each other’s voices.

He was my best friend and I was his. His divorce was final, he was thinking about dating again, and I was just about to turn thirty, feeling as if I was at a crossroads. None of my “life goals” had been met and I knew I needed a change.

I’d managed to, by some miracle, hide my romantic feelings from him, and started encouraging him to date. He did, and it was the most painful thing imaginable. I had to finally face the fact that I was in love with him, and I had to let him go. He was in Australia, I was in America. How could it work?

The morning of my 30th birthday, I told him we had to stop talking and he asked why. When I confessed my feelings for him, he said: “I have one thing to ask you. Will you marry me?”

And just like that, I was engaged. I knew his voice, but not his face. I had spoken with his parents and children, but I didn’t know his eye color, or how he wore his hair. That didn’t matter to me, though it probably should have.

Just a month later, I was on a plane to Australia, to meet him. He greeted me at the airport with flowers and chocolates, and we started an epic adventure together. In three weeks, we drove our way through Australia, visiting all his family. And when I became ill, he flew home with me and met my family and friends.

In the wake of 9/11, he came over for a visit and we married spontaneously. We moved his possessions and two adorable cats over from Australia and here he is today. Imagine it; a man loves you so much that he moves across the world to be with you! It wasn’t a decision either of us undertook lightly, and we miss his children greatly. Thank goodness for Skype and video chat. We talk with his family every week without fail.

Mark’s a very proud American citizen, though he’s Aussie to his soul.

Life hasn’t always been easy. Just this year, Mark had an emergency triple bypass; I very nearly lost him. Thankfully, he’s doing much better now!

We’ll celebrate our fifteenth anniversary later this year, a celebration of love and laughter, a celebration of the triumph of love conquering all, even two hearts who weren’t looking to be bound. Friends to lovers, who are still friends after all these years.

Blurb:
Kira meets Sage, one of the guys from her favorite band, at a "rock workshop". Can she trust this handsome rockstar or is he after more than her talent?

Genre/Theme:
Contemporary, rock star, friends to lovers

Copyright ©Alexa Silver, 2016

Excerpt:
“How to be a rock star. They make it sound so easy.” Kira McGrath looked at the poster and tried not to fidget. The Fantasy Rock World camp had been a dream of hers for ages, and now that the pre-camp registration day was here, she was a nervous wreck. Hotel check in had been fine, but she was at the end of a long line of music fans now and she was having serious second thoughts. She could go home, sure, but that would be admitting defeat and Kira was not about to fail.

“Oh my God,” the woman in front of her said. “I cannot believe Joe Clinton will be here. He’s like, the best.” She grabbed Kira’s arm, her purple fingernails digging into Kira’s black leather scuba jacket. “Isn’t he the best?”

“I guess,” Kira said, shrugging. She wasn’t a fan of Joe, who was the latest and greatest heavy metal shredder. She was more old school. Give her Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughn.

“I’m Brenda,” the woman continued, releasing Kira’s arm. “I’m a guitarist. You?”

“Kira.” She extended her hand, shaking Brenda’s. “I’m here for the songwriting track.”

“Oh yeah.” Brenda’s eyes drifted back to the poster, where Novell Vinge’s name was blacked out and a TBD had been hastily added in red marker. “I wonder who is replacing Novell. That sucks; he’s a great songwriter.”

“Yeah.” Kira had been excited at the idea of doing a week of workshops with the fifty-something music legend, who’d written more than two dozen top ten hits. But Novell had broken his arm badly and rumor had it he was in surgery. Nobody knew yet who would be replacing him, though names of potential counselors abounded. Paul McCartney and Elton John would be incredible, but that so wasn’t going to happen. Personally, Kira was hoping for someone from one of her favorite bands, but that was impossible. Nocturnal Lions were in Europe, Enigma was in Asia, and Synergy was recording in New York.

“Do you play?” Brenda asked, motioning to her guitar case. Kira couldn’t fathom why Brenda and many others in line brought their music cases to registration. They’d just sign in here, not play. Not yet, though there was a rumor that there would be an open jam session tonight.

“A little,” Kira allowed. “Guitar and keys. And I sing some too.”

“Ohh!” Brenda’s expression turned calculating. “We should try to play together. Do you play much?”

Kira shrugged. Though she’d been expecting this, she hadn’t worked out what her response would be. “Yeah, my band works steadily.”

“You a local?” the guy in front of Brenda, with spiky blond hair and more facial hardware than the average home improvement store, asked. “You look familiar.”

Uh oh.

“I’m local,” Kira said, trying to look nonchalant. “My band plays in the area.”

“What’s your— The Cats! The Cats by Day!” the guy exclaimed and Kira’s face went hot. Shit. She didn’t need this at all, much less as she started at the camp. The guy turned to Brenda. “They’re a tribute band. They do a lot of Nocturnal Lions stuff. Check them out on You Tube.” The guy’s eyes narrowed and Kira knew she was being measured.

“What?” she asked, trying to stay calm and keep her irritation out of her voice.

“Why are you taking a spot from one of us?” he asked, sounding every bit like a petulant child.

Kira had to work hard not to roll her eyes at that. She’d learned, the hard way, that a lot of men in the music industry didn’t grow up, and she was sick and tired of the posturing that belonged on a middle-school playground. “I’m doing the songwriting program, not the performance. And I didn’t take a spot from anyone. We all applied, paid our fees, and are here.”

“Songwriting?” the guy asked just as Brenda’s phone blared out Done, the biggest Nocturnal Lions’ hit, with Kira singing, fronting her tribute band. “You guys do everyone else’s songs. What do you need with songwriting?” the guy asked.

Brenda gasped. “Don’t be an asshole.” Dismissing him, she turned her attention to Kira. “You’re good. Ignore him, he’s just being an insecure jerk. Let’s talk later.” She squeezed Kira’s arm, her expression open and welcoming.

“Sounds good,” Kira murmured, wondering if she should get out of line, pack her bags, and request a refund. Maybe she really didn’t belong here.

Blurb: Blake sees Xavier agonizing over unclaimed gift tags for poor children on the holiday tree. Will Blake tell Xavier about his past and his problem?

Genre/theme: M/M, Holiday, friends to lovers

Copyright © Berengaria Brown, 2015

Excerpt:
Blake stood and walked behind Xavier’s chair, resting his hands gently on Xavier’s shoulders, and then massaging them. Xavier felt his tight muscles loosen a little as Blake’s fingers dug into the tense tissues, working on the knots, Blake’s thumbs pressing and rolling into each bump.

Xavier rotated his neck and head, and then leaned forward, relaxing into Blake’s firm touch. “Hmm, that feels good.”

Blake moved his hands around, pressing and working all the stiff areas until there were no hard lumps left. His hands stilled momentarily before he slid them down Xavier’s back and up under his sweater and shirt. They glided over the taut back muscles, up Xavier’s spine and around over his sides, down, then up again. This time his fingers moved around to the solid chest wall.

Blake’s fingers stilled over Xavier’s nipples, the firm little discs already standing to attention.

Xavier stood, turned into Blake’s arms, and wrapped his own around Blake. “Maybe it’s time to move this party into the bedroom?” The two men were almost the same height, a mere fraction under six feet, so Xavier tilted his head to the side to kiss his friend.

The kiss was sweet and gentle, a brief butterfly touching of lips to lips, until Blake grabbed Xavier’s head and held it still so he could lick along the seam of Xavier’s mouth. As Xavier opened up, Blake’s tongue slid inside, teasing and tasting and testing. First along the insides of his cheeks, then behind his teeth, and finally to tangle and dance with Xavier’s tongue.

Blake’s fingers burrowed into Xavier’s black hair where it curled on his collar at the back of his neck.
Blake stroked the neck underneath the curls, angling the other man’s mouth more fully over his own, then sucked Xavier’s tongue into his own mouth.

When they finally drew apart, both men were panting, not just from lack of oxygen, but also from the power and passion of their kisses.

Blake pulled Xavier hard against him from hips to chest, his arms like steel bands around the other man. Their cocks rubbed against each other, two long, hard ridges, their heat obvious even through the layers of clothing. “Want you. Need you,” he whispered.

“Hell, yeah. I want you, too.”

Friends? Lovers? It can work.

One of my favorite themes is friends to lovers, especially in the short story format. For some reason that suits my writing style well. There is so much a writer can do with that theme. It just hits perfectly sometimes.

I have two friends to lovers stories in Naughty Literati collections, and though they’re very different, they also snuggle in closely with this theme.

In Love Potion #69, which is in the Naughty Hearts anthology, Jenna and Keith have known each other for a long time. They work next door to each other, Jenna’s father has a restaurant right across the street. They know each other, have even floated around the idea of dating.

When they come together, due to a bit of magic and Keith’s own clumsiness, the feeling is almost of inevitability, as if they’d been dancing around this for so long and it just works. They fit together perfectly.

To contrast, Mel and Tod from Stay the Night, which is in the Naughty Flings anthology, are more acquaintances than friends. She runs the bookstore that he visits every morning on his commute to work, and they have a nice rapport, but they haven’t explored any relationship beyond that. One day, they bond over a book Mel is reading. Tod reveals his attraction to Mel.

Tod and Mel explore a new phase of their friendship, connecting on a personal, as well as an intimate level. They also fit well together, but their connection is new and dynamic in a different way. Getting to know each other in and out of bed is exhilarating and beautiful.

Do you like reading about friends to lovers? What is the appeal to you?

“That’s where I write.” He reached for her hand and she clasped his, winding through the rooms she’d been in until…

“My God!” One entire corner of the house had been fitted with windows, and a long built-in desk snuggled under them. His desktop sat in one corner, a laptop on a little table near a recliner tucked into the corner. It was the absolute perfect place to write, and she loved it at first glance.

“Southeastern exposure. I write a lot on weekend mornings, a cup of coffee, some music on.” He motioned to the small speakers in the corners of the room. “And the view. Birdbath, bird house and Alfie.”

“Alfie?”

“My cat.” He motioned to a black and white blob that lifted its head when it heard its name. “Rescued from the birds, or maybe the birds were rescued from him. He’d been abandoned and was pretty hungry when Mom got him a couple of years ago, but her vision was failing so much she had to give him to me almost immediately. I run plot points by him and if he doesn’t yawn, I have a winner.”

He turned to the closet. “I have a slightly older laptop here. It was Mom’s, great condition. You can log in as a guest and it’ll connect up to the ‘Net and you can download your stuff.”

She grinned, completely at ease in this room, the afternoon sunlight streaming in, but not with a directness that would have bothered her were it a western exposure. “So that wasn’t a euphemism, like coming over to see your etchings?” She couldn’t decide if she was relieved or a little disappointed, especially considering how good he looked in those jeans and that shirt.

His eyes darkened perceptibly and she sucked in a breath, realizing just how little she knew about him. She wasn’t danger girl, had never been attracted to bad boys, had never been interested in living on the edge. How dangerous was this situation with a virtual stranger?

“Was that what you came here for?” he asked, his voice low, and warm, and more than a little sexy. There was something about a mild-mannered guy sounding all in control that was working on her senses and she swayed in toward him, even though her mind was screaming warnings.

“If I said yes?” she asked, taking a chance. She was a bigger girl and he was…well, she figured he was out of her league, between the gorgeous house and the unexpectedly handsome guy hiding behind the suits.

He was only a few steps away from her, but all of a sudden it felt like the widest gulf imaginable. She was torn between going for it and hesitating, because if she did go for it and he said no, that would be bad. Very bad. And she liked this guy. A lot.

He suddenly moved with more grace than she would have attributed to him, crushing her against his chest, against his…
